Tell us you're coming
Not required to get in — the show is free and open to everyone. It just helps us know how much confetti to order.
We'll email you the set times, parking tips, and a heads-up if the weather does something unexpected. Nothing else.
Support the show
The concert is free. Merch is how it keeps happening — printed to order and shipped to your door.
The Culver Steps

Parent FAQ
What exactly is this?
Jason Mesches' Smile Factory is an interactive concert experience made especially for families with young children.
Think half kids' rock show, half baby rave, and a full public display of joy.
There will be music. There will be dancing. There will probably be children running in circles for reasons no one can explain. And honestly? That's exactly what we're going for.
Where exactly is this?
The Culver Steps — 9300 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232
Set times?
9:30am — DJ Nina Nevra on the DiscoCart
10:00am — Jason Mesches
Is the show really free?
Yes! Free and open to the public, no ticket required. But please feel free to order some merch from our store as a way to support the show.
Where should we park?
There is parking under the Culver Steps, but it is limited. If the lot is full, try the metered spots in downtown Culver. First hour free, $1 each additional 30min.
We strongly recommend giving yourself a little extra time to park, unload the kids, find the stroller, realize someone forgot their water bottle, and then finally make your way to the show.
What ages is the show for?
The show is designed primarily for 6mo to 6 years and their millennial parents, but we believe anyone can have a great time: grandparents, childless aunts and uncles, nannies, etc.
Is this a “sit quietly and watch the show” kind of concert?
Absolutely not.
Kids are encouraged to dance, sing, jump, wiggle, clap, move around, and generally have the time of their lives.
This is not a place where your child will get side-eyed for refusing to sit still. We designed this show for kids. We know what kids are like.
What if my child gets overwhelmed, cries, or has a meltdown?
First of all: that'll happen.
Second: you are in exactly the right place.
Kids are unpredictable, and we expect families to do whatever they need to do. Need to step away for a few minutes? Take a break? Find a quieter spot? Head home early?
No problem. This is a judgment-free space. We are not keeping score.
How long is the concert?
Jason's set is 40min. The show is designed with young attention spans in mind. We want your family to leave wanting more — not wondering why you thought a four-hour concert was a good idea. DJ Nina Nevra will be on the DJ decks from 9:30–10a, and Jason's show begins at 10:00a.
Is the music too loud for young children?
This is a real concert, so yes, there will be plenty of energy — but we take the young audience seriously, and have asked our sound team to keep it to 80-90db.
Parents are always welcome to bring kid-friendly hearing protection, especially for babies and children who are sensitive to sound. You know your child best, and we encourage you to do whatever makes them/you most comfortable.
Do parents have to stay with their children?
Yes. This is a family concert, not a drop-off program.
Parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children throughout the event. The good news is: you get to enjoy the concert too. This kids concert is mostly adult music :)
Can kids dance and move around?
Please do.
Seriously.
The dancing is not only allowed — it is highly encouraged.
What should my child wear?
Sparkles? Great. Superhero costume? Perfect. Pajamas? Honestly, we respect the commitment. Maybe some Smile Factory merch?!?!
There is no dress code. The only recommendation is comfortable clothes and shoes that can handle a serious amount of dancing.
Can we bring a stroller?
Yes, but we ask that you park the strollers off to the side if you are in the dance space.
Can we bring snacks and drinks?
Sure! Or check out any of the fabulous coffee and breakfast spots at The Culver Steps.
Are there bathrooms and changing facilities?
We got you. The public-access restrooms at The Culver Steps are situated on the property, easily accessible from the main plaza level without needing to enter individual tenant restaurants or stores.
What happens if my child falls asleep during the concert?
Then you have achieved something remarkable.
Enjoy the moment.
Can we leave early? Can we come late?
Of course.
We want your family to have a great experience, whether you stay for the entire event or your little one decides that 14 minutes was plenty of excitement for one day.
No judgment.
Can we take photos and videos?
Yes! We love seeing families capture the joy.
Feel free to take photos and videos of your own family and share them on social media. We just ask everyone to be respectful of the people around them and stay present enough to actually enjoy the show.

Will Jason meet families after the show?
Jason will be there until the last family leaves for photos, high fives and hot takes on the current NHL landscape.
What if it rains?
We live in Los Angeles, so we are mostly preparing for sunshine. But apparently the sky does have other settings. So if weather becomes an issue for our outdoor event, notices will be posted on social media.
